Doggie Spotlight on Magnus! a day late.

Happy Dogs on Thursday on Friday!!

I'm sorry I'm a day late. Yesterday was 8th grade graduation at my school and I was busy all day and today is my last day but I'm heading in late so I wanted to get this up now. I start my new job on Monday!! Enough about me. I hope everyone is having a great week. Paula gets back today from her trip so try to stop by her blog and say welcome back.

Today's Doggie Spotlight is on Heather's Magnus.

Most people, who do not love dogs, upon seeing Magnus are terrified! I have no idea why, he is the most gentle dog I have ever known. He loves kids and lets them play with his ears, tail and climb him. Our five year old used to use him as a way to get on the couch when she was very small!

Magnus was brought home by my husband, Ken, to be his dog, in November of 1999. I can not say that I was thrilled, in fact, I was overwhelmed, we had two other dogs already. However, he was such a cute little puppy, with one major ability, he could get out of any kennel. I know sounds unlikely, but true, we finally gave up and penned him up in our Kitchen with the other 2 dogs, Blake and Kelsey and he was fine. He has even gotten out of a 9 foot high outdoor kennel. He does not like to be caged!

In time, Magnus became my dog, all 95lbs of wanna be lap sitting dog. Poor Ken, Magnus follows me everywhere, and when he lost his best friend Blake in September of 2006 he would not let me out of his sight. Magnus, took the loss of Blake very hard, I had to take him to work everyday for 2 months until we found a solution: Blue our new dog. You can see how much he loves her.

I have to say for a dog I was not sure about, he has turned into my best friend and a cherished and well loved member of our family!

Happy Dogs on Thursday!!

Doggie Spotlight on Sissy!

Welcome to Dogs on Thursday!! I hope everyone has been doing well. Paula is still on her trip and we wish her a safe and fun journey. If you have any questions or want to join our group please email me at gnat(at)barknknit(dot)com.

This weeks Doggie Spotlight is on Channon's Sissy.

Meet our diva. Gaylen announced upon seeing the earliest pictures of Sissy that we had a diva on our hands. A local friend and long-time, multiple basset hound owner had told me all along that females were almost a different breed, but still, we weren't quite prepared for the little girl the Knight named Mugsy's Little Sister, called Sissy. I eventually registered her as Haddon Wood's Princess of Joy, and she certainly continues to bring joy to our lives with her crazy antics.

She's terribly affectionate and sweet, when she isn't "all jacked up." We joke that if we had waited, we would have named her Gretchen - as in Gretchen Wilson, a country star proud of her wild, "redneck" ways - Danica - Danica Patrick, the Indy phenom - because Sissy gets "all jacked up" and creates her own "Sissy 500" through the house and/or outside. In fact, despite the misconception that bassets are lazy, relaxed dogs, this gal needs to stretch her legs daily.

Mugsy thinks she loves him a bit too much, but he tolerates her, and will even make the first move to snuggle with her if she is leaving him alone. Our Joy will be seven months old on Saturday, so we're looking forward to much, much more laughter and love with her.

Happy Dogs on Thursday to everyone!

Dogs on Thursday!!

Hello everyone!! Welcome to this weeks Dogs on Thursday. Paula is out of town so I'll be covering for the next two weeks. Let's all wish Paula a great trip. I just got back from another one of my trips so I haven't had much time to get a post together. We'll get back into the swing of things soon....stick with us.

Well, for this week's blog post I wanted to share a news story from a neat site. I recently started reading DogsintheNews.com and I found this cute article about the largest and smallest dogs in the world. I figured I'd share the link this week.

And I'll leave you with a little funny.

If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater . . . suggest that he wear a tail.

Dogs On Thursday On Saturday

So Sorry this is such a late post and a vanilla shortie too since I am leaving a few min. to go to the airport I don't have much time.
We had some pretty weird storms and knocked our power out for a bit and I was unable to post until everything seems back to normal.
I will be gone traveling through the UK until May 30th.
Natalie is back from her awesome trip, go see her pictures!
It has been a quiet week here at Dogs On Thursday.
There are no new members to announce, or doggie spotlights to do.
The only bit of news about the need for some more snuggles from a shelter in MO.
where the storms hit pretty badly.
So I am leaving the DoT snuggle blog open for those that want to make more snuggles for the MO. folks and any other shelters still in need of snuggles.
I will do another drawing for a prize at the end of July for all those that completed a snuggle and sent it off to a shelter in need.
I will post more details when I get back.
Have a wonderful rest of May!
See you all in June.

Even though this is super late, if anyone posted on Thursday go ahead and sign in to Mr. Linky below.

Dogs On Thursday Snuggle Drawing

"To err is human:To forgive, canine." ~Anonymous

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to this weeks edition of Dogs on Thursday!
Again, we have quite a short post as there is no new members to announce and no Doggie Spotlight to post (hint, hint to those I talked to about spotlighting their dog.) and I am also sorry that I am late posting today.
I misplaced my brain a while ago and decided to go back to school.
My family tells me it is a midlife crisis, but Elise is supportive as long as I am home in time for her walk and give her lots of treats and cuddles.
Well the registration for summer classes was this morning and now that is why I am late today.
My 21 year old son who is also a math major, is already having a great tease that he gets to tutor his old mom in algebra.
(I think I may need the extra treats and cuddles by the time these classes are over!)
Anyway I also want to remind everyone that I will be leaving for vacation in 10 days.
We are going to Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England for 3 weeks.
It is such a dream vacation for me and I am very excited and quite nervous at the same time, but mostly I will miss my dear Elise while we are away. I have never been away from her for that long.
But, I know she will be quite spoiled and living in the the lap of luxury in my sisters care until we return.
Sooo, now that I have taken up the first half of Dogs on Thursday rambling about myself.

I will move on to some fun and excitement with the DOT Snuggle Project Drawing!
The DoT Snuggle Project ended April 30th and those that participated will be sending or have already sent their snuggles to their favorite Dog Charity.
The DoT Snuggle Blog with it wonderful snuggles can be seen Here.
So go check it out!

I wrote everyone's name down on a piece of paper that participated in the project, folded it 6 times for luck (did you know that it is impossible to fold a piece of paper more than 6 times?) and I put all the pieces of paper a 'special vessel'. (an old clay vase that I got my hand stuck in.)
Mixed up the contents well and drew out a name.

That name is.....(drum roll please)....Mary!

Mary won this fabulous collection to her crochet/knitting corner and a months supply of healthful dog snacks!

Congratulations Mary!

Also...,don't forget to visit Nichole's blog for her wrap up to her contest, Mindy's blog for info on ordering the dog charm bracelets and Natalie's blog to listen to her BarknKnit Podcast and check out pictures of her awesome trip to Washington D.C.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and will be outside with their furbabies enjoying this beautiful weather.
Stay tuned as in June we will announce a new summertime contest and a Dog Days Of Summer DoT Swap.
